On 24-25 October 2024, Demo-BLog partner TU Delft participated at the 12th annual edition of Sustainable Places Conference (SP2024) co-organised by Demo-BLog partner R2M Solutions and the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). The conference took place at the European Convention Center Luxembourg (ECCL) in Luxembourg.
The Sustainable Places conference is a platform that clusters EU projects addressing sustainability targets and climate change objectives in the building industry. Up to 57 technical sessions, project-organised workshops and paper sessions explored the various themes that were in line with the goals of the conference.
Last year, TU Delft had the opportunity to participate at the first Sustainable Place’s workshop session on digital building logbooks (DBLs). It was a great moment to network with Demo-BLog’s sister projects to share key findings and discuss the common challenges faced.
This year, two workshops were organised on the topic of DBLs: Digital Building Logbooks and Permit Processes and Creating Efficient and Impactful Digital Building Logbooks. During the former, TU Delft professor and Demo-BLog scientific coordinator, Henk Visscher, discussed his views on the growing importance of digitalising the building permitting process, highlighting the potential role of DBLs in that respect.
The latter session, chaired by Henk Visscher, focused primarily on the development of DBLs in the five participating EU projects. Among these five projects, Demo-BLog was presented by TU Delft researcher Sun-Ah Hwang. The presentations touched on the objectives, key innovations, and value propositions of the individual projects, and closed with a roundtable discussion.
Apart from the workshops, TU Delft also participated in a paper session at the conference. TU Delft researcher and Demo-BLog member, Sultan Çetin, presented Data collection techniques and technologies for digital building logbooks: Three logbooks and a case study. The paper discusses key findings from a study conducted in the Demo-BLog project, exploring the multiple ways different DBL
providers collect data.
